Memorial website in the memory of your loved one

This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Brian Holod.  Brian was born in Kennedy Township, McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, to David and Joyce Holod, on October 27, 1971, and he suddenly passed away at his home in North Ridgeville, Ohio on January 1, 2006 at the age of 34.

Brian was loved by all who knew him.  He had a beautiful smile, warm and caring ways, a great personality and keen sense of humor.  We were gifted by God to have Brian be such a special part of our lives.   We will remember Brian, our "shining star", forever as a very special son, brother, friend, co-worker and physician.

Brian made a difference in so many lives, and this quote by Pericles seems appropriate:  "WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND IS NOT WHAT IS ENGRAVED IN STONE MONUMENTS, BUT WHAT IS WOVEN INTO THE LIVES OF OTHERS."

Thank you for visiting Brian's website.  Scroll down to learn more about events scheduled to remember Brian and to view a slide show of photos.  WE HOPE YOU WILL TAKE A MOMENT TO "LIGHT A CANDLE" FOR BRIAN.  This will let us know  you have visited the site.  After you light a candle, it will remain lit forever.  It means so much to us, and we thank everyone who continues to show your support!

WE WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE YOU ADDING A "TRIBUTE" TO BRIAN, SHARING YOUR FUNNY STORIES AND/OR TREASURED MOMENTS.  ALL WE HAVE LEFT IS MEMORIES, AND WE WILL CHERISH YOUR COMMENTS AND MEMORIES MORE THAN WORDS CAN EXPRESS.

2008 MEMORIAL GOLF OUTING AT SWEETBRIAR

The 3rd Annual Brian Holod Memorial Golf Outing was held at Sweetbriar Golf Club in Avon Lake on Friday, September 26, 2008.  It was awesome!  Participants in the scramble enjoyed playing at Sweetbriar's beautiful new "Legacy 18" course.  We were blessed with a warm, beautiful, breezy fall day to enjoy each other's company.  It was so nice to see many of Brian's friends and fellow doctors at the outing.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event in any way.  To the individuals who participated in the scramble and those who joined us for dinner, we are so glad you were able to join us.  I believe we had someone very special looking down on us at the event!  I know that one of Heaven's Angel's had a big, beautiful smile as our little Jordyn sang a special song entitled "I Miss You" for her Uncle Brian.

Congratulations to CHRISTOPHER de La HOUSSAYE, D.O. who was selected as the 2012 recipient of the BRIAN HOLOD, D.O. "PATIENCE WITH PATIENTS" award. The presentation occurred this evening at the St. John Medical Center Intern and Resident Graduation Dinner at Avon Oaks Country Club. Dr.de la HOUSSAYE graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011 and is a PGY1 Traditional Rotating Intern at St. John Medical Center. He is recognized for his professionalism and compassion, his willingness to go above and beyond by dedicating his spare time to meeting the needs of his residency team, and his exemplary patient-oriented care. Christopher is described by his peers as an asset to patient care, possessing a great work ethic, and his commendable patience during rotations. Dr. De la HOUSSAYE also received the 2012 Dr. Jack Brill award for Outstanding Intern tonight. He was accepted into NOVA Southwestern for Radiology Residency. Best wishes for happiness and success in your future medical careers to Christopher and all the participants in the SJMC Graduate Medical Education program. On a personal note, thank you to Dr. S Kish for the touching comments he made to me after the dinner regarding him remembering Brian. It meant a lot to me as I thought back to previous ceremonies I attended with Brian and of the love and pride I felt for my son.
2011 "PATIENCE WITH PATIENCE" AWARD

It was my privilege to present ANDY COIL D.O. as the 2011 recipient of the BRIAN HOLOD D.O. "PATIENCE WITH PATIENCE" AWARD at the annual St. John Medical Center Intern and Resident Graduation Ceremony on June 16, 2011 at Lakewood Country Club.  Andy was presented with a beautiful plaque and a check for $300.00 from the Brian Holod Memorial Fund.

Dr. Coil was the recipient of the award last year, and he continues to receive recognitions from patients for his compassionate care.  Dr. Coil is a PGY3 Emergency Medicine Resident who graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008.  He embodies the spirit of this award, as he is viewed as a patient advocate and role model of kindness and compassion.  He is very empathetic with patients and offers support.  Dr. Coil is recognized for the courteous manner in which he communicates with both patients and their families

Congratulations Andy for continuing to provide patient care with extreme compassion.

2009 PATIENCE WITH PATIENTS AWARD-DR. McCONOUGHEY
The St John West Shore Hospital Graduation Dinner for Interns and Residents was held on June 2009 at Lakewood Country Club. I had the privilege of presenting the Brian Holod D.O. "Patience with Patients" Award.

The 2008-2009 recipient of the Brian Holod D.O. "Patience with Patients" award is David McConoughey D.O.

Dr. McConoughey is a PGY2 Emergency Medicine Resident who graduated from the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007. He embodies the spirit of this award as he genuinely cares about the patients that he treats and not only them but all those that he works with including techs nurses and other attendings.

Just recently a nurse commented that she overheard Dave in a patient's room in the CCU. His interaction with the patient sent chills up and down the nurse's spine as she heard him care for and interact with the patient. Dr. McConoughey listens carefully and shows empathy towards those he cares for. He is certainly an example to all in regards to compassionate care and earning the respect and trust of his patients. Dr. McConoughey will be a PGY3 resident in SJWSH's Emergency Medicine Program beginning in Juli.

I can personally attest to Dr. McConoughey's compassionate care since he was the E.R. physician who treated me for the injuries to my mouth when I tripped on my front porch in November. Dr. Conoughey showed much concern for my well-being that night.

Dr. McConoughey was presented with a plaque and a check for $300.00 from the Brian Holod Memorial Fund.
