This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Brian Holod. Brian was born in Kennedy Township, McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, to David and Joyce Holod, on October 27, 1971, and he suddenly passed away at his home in North Ridgeville, Ohio on January 1, 2006 at the age of 34.
Brian was loved by all who knew him. He had a beautiful smile, warm and caring ways, a great personality and keen sense of humor. We were gifted by God to have Brian be such a special part of our lives. We will remember Brian, our "shining star", forever as a very special son, brother, friend, co-worker and physician.
Brian made a difference in so many lives, and this quote by Pericles seems appropriate: "WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND IS NOT WHAT IS ENGRAVED IN STONE MONUMENTS, BUT WHAT IS WOVEN INTO THE LIVES OF OTHERS."
Thank you for visiting Brian's website. Scroll down to learn more about events scheduled to remember Brian and to view a slide show of photos. WE HOPE YOU WILL TAKE A MOMENT TO "LIGHT A CANDLE" FOR BRIAN. This will let us know you have visited the site. After you light a candle, it will remain lit forever. It means so much to us, and we thank everyone who continues to show your support!
WE WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE YOU ADDING A "TRIBUTE" TO BRIAN, SHARING YOUR FUNNY STORIES AND/OR TREASURED MOMENTS. ALL WE HAVE LEFT IS MEMORIES, AND WE WILL CHERISH YOUR COMMENTS AND MEMORIES MORE THAN WORDS CAN EXPRESS.
We regret to inform you that we have CANCELLED the 5th Annual Brian Holod Memorial Golf Outing due to lack of participation. Thanks to those who helped promote the event and those who did register. -9/25/10

Our thanks to those who participated in the BRIAN HOLOD MEMORIAL POKER RUN on October 7, 2006. After much prayer, decided it would be best not to do another poker run, and just appreciate the special gathering we had last year to dedicate Brian's Garden at SJWS.

2009 PATIENCE WITH PATIENTS AWARD-DR. McCONOUGHEY The St John West Shore Hospital Graduation Dinner for Interns and Residents was held on June 2009 at Lakewood Country Club. I had the privilege of presenting the Brian Holod D.O. "Patience with Patients" Award.
The 2008-2009 recipient of the Brian Holod D.O. "Patience with Patients" award is David McConoughey D.O.
Dr. McConoughey is a PGY2 Emergency Medicine Resident who graduated from the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007. He embodies the spirit of this award as he genuinely cares about the patients that he treats and not only them but all those that he works with including techs nurses and other attendings.
Just recently a nurse commented that she overheard Dave in a patient's room in the CCU. His interaction with the patient sent chills up and down the nurse's spine as she heard him care for and interact with the patient. Dr. McConoughey listens carefully and shows empathy towards those he cares for. He is certainly an example to all in regards to compassionate care and earning the respect and trust of his patients. Dr. McConoughey will be a PGY3 resident in SJWSH's Emergency Medicine Program beginning in Juli.
I can personally attest to Dr. McConoughey's compassionate care since he was the E.R. physician who treated me for the injuries to my mouth when I tripped on my front porch in November. Dr. Conoughey showed much concern for my well-being that night.
Dr. McConoughey was presented with a plaque and a check for $300.00 from the Brian Holod Memorial Fund.
